Pinterest Party

My BFF had a great idea…she hosted a PINTEREST PARTY!!!  Yayyy!!!!  We each had to bring a recipe and a craft that we had seen on Pinterest.  We made the food at home and brought enough materials for each person to try the craft.  There were 5 girls at the party which means 5 treats to eat and 5 crafts to make!

Craft # 1: Frosted Vases.

Find the instructions here: http://www.plumadorable.com/march-mantle/

First we stretched elastic bands over the vases.

Then we sprayed them with frosted glass spray.  We did this outside so that we didn’t frost the BFF’s apartment too!

After letting them dry, we took off the elastics and voila!  Custom decorated vases!

This works for vases of all shapes and sizes!

Craft #2: Photo Coasters

Find the instructions here: http://thefrugalgirls.com/2010/11/how-to-make-photo-coasters.html

I don’t have pictures of all the steps, but the first thing you need to do is cut out a piece of felt the same size as the tile and glue it to the bottom of the tile with the spray adhesive.  This will stop the tile from scratching your coffee table later.  Next, cut your picture slightly smaller than the coaster so that there will be a white border around your picture.

Then, spray some adhesive on the tile and stick your photo to the top of the tile.

Now Mod Podge over your picture with a foam brush.  You may want to let it dry and then do a second coat.

Let it dry, and your coaster is complete!  These would make a very personal and sentimental gift but still be very inexpensive!

Craft #3: DIY Lip Gloss

Find the instructions here: http://www.meetthedubiens.com/2011/01/make-your-own-lip-gloss.html

This was my craft and it was really easy!  I bought the little lip gloss containers from the dollar store and printed the labels onto sticky paper from the link above.  Microwave a cup of vaseline in 30 second intervals until it melts.  Add a package of Kool-aid.  Stir until it is all dissolved and pour into the lip gloss containers.  When cool, put the lids on!  See, I told you it was easy!

They turned out looking really cute, and I just think it would be kind of cool to give as a gift and say you made it!

Craft #4: Eraser Stamps

The theory of this craft is really easy!  The execution is a little more difficult.

You take an eraser, draw a design on it and then carve out the extra eraser around the design.  I tried to make a cupcake, it didn’t turn out as cute as I wanted it to.

I think if I was a little bit more artistic, it would have turned out better.

Craft #5: DIY Gift Boxes

Find the instructions here: http://pinterest.com/pin/101401429082708570/

These were a big hit at the party!  Again, a very simple craft that looks really effective!

I won’t even bother explaining how to make these, just see the link above.  All I will say is you basically trace a CD a couple times onto a piece of card stock, cut it out, make some simple folds, and tie it with a ribbon.

I love the monochromatic look with the different black and white card stock.  We all thought that these would be great as a favour for a bridal shower or baby shower.  And guess what would fit inside perfectly…………….

The lip gloss!!!!!

Well, now I’ve got the favours for the next shower that I throw all planned and tested!

Phew!  I know that was a long post, but I wanted to share with you all of the fun crafts that we got to try.

Thank you BFF for hosting!  I can’t wait for the next Pinterest Party!

Love,

Candy
